Chairman Richard Maxwell says “I am delighted to welcome Matt and Simon to The Hunters.
Both bring a wealth of experience in developing young players across all ages, progressing them to semi-professional 1st team, which is perfectly aligned with the club’s culture centred around developing players.
I was impressed with the energy and enthusiasm that Matt and Simon showed to the exciting project we have. I look forward to supporting Matt and Simon on their own coaching journeys and seeing the exciting future ahead for the players.
Both Si and Matt will soon be seen in and around the club with Si commenting “After speaking to Richard and listening to his views about player development and his vision for the football club, some of which is already taking place and rest taking shape, it was a no brainer to be honest, really refreshing. I can’t wait to go again .”
Matt had been very complimentary of what the club had done in the summer of 2023 with improvements to the pitch and facility, always asking questions and taking a real interest. When the role at the club became public, he very quickly put his name forward. He went on to say “For me, actions speak louder than words. Richard told us what he wanted to achieve over the next 6,12, 18, 24 months. Now, Richard has delivered the floodlights….!! Huntingdon Town will concentrate on the pitches in the close season, bringing them to an excellent standard; expanding the youth section in both the boys and girls game… the list goes on and some of the other projects, I can’t talk about, just yet…!!! Over the next few months people in football are going to want to be part of this club. The vision for the club and the culture of the players is refreshing. This was a challenge and project I wanted to be part of; players will be given the opportunity to progress, and they will be rewarded – allowing them to play at a level where their ability allows and if they exceed those levels, the club will promote them to achieve at an even higher level.” Â
